Nick Day wins the County Championship

Nick Day (Henbury) won the 105th County Championship after an exciting play off with Jack Cope at the second extra hole. In the fourth round both were behind Joe Harvey (Kendleshire) who had a six stroke lead and led on eight under par after three rounds, 71, 69 and 68 but even carding a two under par 70 was not enough to win though he had a fifteen foot putt on the last to enter the playoff. Nick Day was ten under for his final round after 16 holes but three putted the final green to card just a 63. Jack Cope was one shot shy with a 64 in the play off Jack had a chance at the 14th (first extra hole) after driving 340 yards and pitching to ten feet but the putt just missed and then he three putted the second extra hole to hand the title to Nick Day who became the Gloucestershire County Champion for the sixth time, even more remarkable was he opened with a 78 in the first round before adding a 67, 69 and 63. Joe Harvey was third whilst Jake Phillips (Cotswold Hills) and Ed Butler (Lansdown) were the five players to beat par.
