The Championship Course which was the original design comprises of 15 Codrington Holes, 1 hole from the Stranahan (the 17th, which was the old 2nd) and two from the original layout (old 3rd and the current 7th & 8th combined). The Championship Course is played once a month in the summer usually from normal tees though it can from a combination of Black tees on 12 holes and 6 holes from Brown tees it can be a very long course, extremely hard but probably equal to the sort of course found on the main tours, many county golfers don’t break 90 and some quite good ones go over 100.sunrise3rdhole

Whilst the Codrington and Stranahan form independent courses it is still possible to play The Championship Course prior to 10am weekdays on quiet days upon application. From the normal White tees the course is no more difficult than the Codrington course although is par 75, counting the 8th Hole a par 6 which measuring 727 yards was the 13th longest hole in the world.
