One Day and Five Champions.

In what was probably the best Club Championship ever with nine holes remaining it was still quite open as to who would be the 2014 champion. With great conditions the course played firm and fast and that caught many out as the hammer fell at 79 gross for the top sixteen cut. Notable absentee’s included five time champion Nick Perkins, Lee Britton and Graham Hinckley who all missed by one and Chris Iles was the unlucky 17th player who lost out on countback with the 79s. The mornings best score came from 55 year Mike Jarvis and 13 year Alex Ault both beat par with 71. Lee Godwin and Mark Charlton were three back on 74. In the afternoon the early fallers were Adam Bubb and Lee Bruton, though Zac Annear got back in the mix before dropping shots at 12 and 13 and found the water at 15. Simon Hendy took 4th spot with an afternoon 75 whilst Mark Charlton’s 77 saw him third on 151. In the play off young Alex took 6 at the first extra hole.

In the Senior championship with over 30 entries Andy Platt scored a three over par 75 to take the gross whilst Barry Jacques the net with a 67. Ryan Prosser took the junior championship with 74 and Sara Mortimer’s 46 points on the Stranahan took the ladies prize.
