For the 5th time in 6 years Nick Perkins has taken the clubs prestigious prize of Club Champion.
With a gross score of 150 Nick and Max Brittan set off to the 18th tee for sudden death play off.
Both drove into the fairway bunker, Nick played first and his six iron chased up and found the centre of the green. Max played but caught the bunker lip dropping back in right under the lip.
Max hit the green for four and saw his 13 foot put shave the right edge of the hole to end with a six. Nick slid his first put up the green to a few feet and sunk his second put for a par 4 to win the day. It was the closest championship for some time and the morning play was not dominated by the bigger names. Fraser Hughes and Lee Bruton both posted level par 72’s closely followed by an excellent 73 from seven handicapper Nick Fuller, Mike Jarvis scored an equally impressive 73, Brian Hellyer and Kev Caswell saw themselves in the mix too with the top 16 cut coming at 81, Phil McTiffin’s 81 grabbing the last spot with Robin Hood, Ian Stefanovich and Lee Godwin all missing out on countback. The afternoon play saw Max Brittan post a 73 together with his morning 77 whilst Nick Perkins matched his 75. Over the final nine holes there were still five or six players in with a chance, Lee Bruton started with a 7 in the afternoon but battled back until a horror story at 12, Fraser Hughes took third sport with 151 whilst Graham Hinckley, Kev Caswell and Mike Jarvis finished at nine over.
