Mark Charlton wins his first club championship.

Mark Charlton won his first club championship by three strokes with an impressive level par 144, despite starting with a 6 and following it with dropped shots at the second and third, Mark played the next 30 holes in five under par before taking three from the edge at 17. Tom Longley closely matched Charlton and looks much better than his four-handicap, he made a great birdie at 14 and had a great chance at 15, but a miss and three putt at 16 gave Charlton a four shot lead. Nick Banwell whose has only played a couple of times this year had several chances to hole putts on the back nine but still managed a very respectable 73 and 74. Great performances from Daniel Stock, Mark Pullen and Kevin Caswell.
Morning: Six strokes split the field with Tom Longley, Mark Charlton and Nick Banwell leading the way on 73 with the 16th spot at 79. Several players got off to a bad start with Nick Perkins 5 over after 6 and Shane Wesson 5 over after 4. Adam Bubb went out in level par but the wheels fell off on the back nine. 11 handicapper Ian Gay just missed out on the last spot with an 80 along with Mark Field and Andy Grabham. The morning CSS was 74.
Afternoon: Lost of great scores after nine holes but the final pair of Mark Charlton and Tom Longley led the field with Mark returning to level par after 27 and a birdie and 12 took him to one under for the championship, Longley birdied 14 but could not make any further ground. Mark Charlton finished in level par 144. Afternoon CSS was 75

Huge entry for Help for Heroes might pay a third dividend.

With a massive 147 entries it seemed everyone came out to support whats become ‘the one to play for’. We have just incase you have been on another planet qualified for the national final for the last two years and this year we post by far our best tally of ten scores. Craig Sharpe set the pace, first out and his score of 47 points ran out the leading score. Ian Gay and Richard Mellis both scored 44, whilst there were a pile of 43’s with Stuart Davis, Mark Pullen, Conor Iles and Paul Bush. The 42s were Lee Williams (gross 70) Arend Welmers and Steve Twiddy. Spare a thought for Neil Parker, Mark Shail and Steve Horswell who all shot close to level par and are outside the ‘ten’. Another great day for a great cause and we have a great chance of making Turnberry again.
